Empowering Self-Love at the 5th Annual Tea Luncheon Event

Updated: 1 day ago

Self-love is more than a buzzword; it is a vital practice that nurtures our well-being and strengthens our confidence. The Annual Tea Luncheon, hosted by Women Lift Project, offers a unique space to celebrate and deepen this essential practice. This gathering brings together women from diverse backgrounds to share stories, inspire one another, and cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth through meaningful connections and reflection.

This blog post explores how the Annual Tea Luncheon fosters self-love, what attendees can expect, and why such events matter in today’s world.

Creating a Space for Genuine Connection

The Annual Tea Luncheon is designed to be more than just a social gathering. It creates a warm, welcoming environment where women feel safe to express themselves openly. The event encourages attendees to share their journeys toward self-love, including challenges and victories. This openness helps build trust and fosters a sense of belonging.

Key elements that support genuine connection include:

  • Intimate seating arrangements that promote conversation

  • Guided discussions focused on personal growth and self-acceptance

  • Opportunities for storytelling that highlight diverse experiences

These features help participants realize they are not alone in their struggles and that self-love is a shared journey.

Activities That Inspire Self-Reflection and Growth

The luncheon incorporates activities designed to deepen self-awareness and encourage positive change. These include:

  • Mindfulness exercises that help attendees focus on the present moment and appreciate themselves without judgment

  • Journaling prompts that guide reflection on personal strengths and areas for growth

  • Creative workshops such as vision board making, which allow participants to visualize their goals and aspirations

By engaging in these activities, women leave the event with practical tools to continue nurturing self-love in their daily lives.

Honoring Our 2026 Awardee Trisché Duckworth

Visionary Leader
Visionary Leader

We are proud to honor Trisché Duckworth, Founder and Executive Director of Survivors Speak, as our 2026 Tea Luncheon Awardee. Trisché is a visionary leader dedicated to justice, equity, and healing for those most affected by violence, incarceration, and systemic harm — centering especially the voices of Black women and marginalized communities.

A survivor herself, Trisché transformed adversity into purpose, growing her organization into a movement that bridges advocacy, direct support, and public policy reform. Her work has advanced police accountability, improved conditions in carceral settings, and advocated for gender-based violence reform with compassion and courage.

As a thoughtful leader and speaker, Trisché brings clarity, resilience, and hope to every space she enters — reminding us that healing and justice are not only possible but vital foundations of self-love and community transformation.

We are overjoyed to welcome Yodit Mesfin Johnson as the keynote voice for this year’s luncheon — a powerful visionary, racial and economic justice educator, and consultant with 25 years of leadership across movement and nonprofit spaces.

Yodit is in a season of radical permission — resting, unlearning, and reimagining what it means for Black women to thrive personally and professionally. She is midwifing The Alena Collective and writing her forthcoming book, We Are the Ones: Leadership Lessons From the Margins — a love letter to leaders rooted in self-worth, healing, and ancestral power.

Yodit’s words will encourage attendees to embrace their worth and lead with fierce compassion — reminding us that self-love is not only personal, but revolutionary.

The Role of Community Support

One of the most powerful aspects of the Annual Tea Luncheon is the sense of community it builds. Being surrounded by others who prioritize self-love creates a supportive network that extends beyond the event itself. This community offers encouragement, accountability, and inspiration.

  • Peer mentorship where experienced attendees guide newcomers

  • Follow-up meetups that maintain momentum and connection

  • Online groups for sharing resources and celebrating milestones

This ongoing support helps women sustain their self-love practices and face life’s challenges with greater resilience.

Why Events Like This Matter Today

In a world that often emphasizes external achievements and appearances, taking time to focus on self-love can feel revolutionary. Events like the Annual Tea Luncheon remind us that our worth is inherent and not dependent on outside validation.

They also address common barriers to self-love, such as:

  • Societal pressures that create unrealistic standards

  • Internalized criticism that undermines confidence

  • Isolation that makes personal growth harder

By providing education, connection, and encouragement, the luncheon helps women overcome these obstacles and build a healthier relationship with themselves.

These steps help transform the event from a one-time gathering into a meaningful milestone on your self-love journey.
