A Beacon of Support and Unity in the Black Community
In a time of societal upheaval, four friends were moved to action by the injustices highlighted during the pandemic. This led to Embracing the Culture (ETC), an initiative that supports Black-owned businesses and reinforces the core values of respect, commitment, and community.
Origins of a Vision
The inception of Embracing The Culture was sparked by a shared vision among friends who recognized a pressing need to support the Black community more robustly and consistently. This vision quickly solidified into a business with three foundational values:
Respect: Honoring the identity and contributions of Black entrepreneurs.
Commitment: Ensuring sustained support that transcends temporary trends.
Community: Building a support network among Black business owners to foster mutual growth.
Impacting the Community
What sets ETC apart is its unwavering dedication to supporting Black-owned businesses as a habitual action rather than a fleeting trend. By focusing on long-term relationships and community benefits, ETC aims to transform the landscape of Black entrepreneurship.
Overcoming Challenges
Balancing full-time jobs with the demands of running ETC has been a significant challenge for the founders. Despite these obstacles, their commitment has led to substantial community impacts, mainly through the Blackity Black Tour®️, which supports Black businesses directly. This tour has helped strengthen other businesses and proven the worth of every sacrifice made along the way.
Boosted by the Lifter Grant
The Lifter grant from the Women Lift Project has been instrumental in allowing ETC to expand its outreach. By funneling grant resources back into the community, ETC has enhanced its ability to support Black businesses more effectively.
Words of Wisdom
The founders of ETC emphatically encourage other Black women entrepreneurs to consider applying for a Lifter grant. The process is straightforward, and the supportive environment created by the Women Lift Project is invaluable. This support goes beyond financial, providing a nurturing backdrop bolsters business growth.
